From Eli's Software Encyclopedia

Atarisoft was a software publishing label created by Atari, Inc. in the early 1980s to bring Atari's popular arcade and video game titles to competing home computer and video game platforms. Rather than limiting its software to Atari computers, Atarisoft released versions of games such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Defender, and Joust on floppy disk and cassette for systems including the Apple II, Commodore 64, VIC-20, IT99/4A, Intellivision and IBM PC. The distinctive Atarisoft packaging and branding allowed Atari to expand its software business beyond its own hardware ecosystem, making many of its arcade conversions available to a broader audience during the golden age of home computing.
