Description from the packaging.
A computerized career guidance tool by James Gonyea, Director of the New England Center for Career Development.
The Perfect Career is the simple, computer-based alternative to self-help books on career selection. Based on answers to questions about your interests and abilities, The Perfect Career recommends occupations that match your interests, to help you identify that perfect career.
The program and accompanying manual take you through for fundamental steps in career guidance:
- Personal Assessment.
- Decision Making.
- Occupational Exploration.
- Career Planning.
The software includes two occupation-related tests, one that measures interests only, and one concerned with interests and abilities, to help both the high school/college job seeker and the mature adult career changer devise a meaningful strategy for selecting a new career.
The Perfect Career incorporates guidance strategies established by the National Vocational Guidance Association. Developed by experts and used by over 20,000 people, The Perfect Career contains:
- An interest/ability inventory of 144 sample work activities.
- A pre-test self-assessment that allows you to compare your preconceived interests/strengths with your test results.
- Career analysis and suggested career goals based on scores in 12 career fields.
- Complete interpretation of scores with recommended occupations from a database of more than 650 occupations (representing over 90% of the American work force).
- Special codes for cross reference to standard occupational directories.
Special feature: Occupational Profiles. For those who want to learn more about a particular occupation, occupational "profiles" can be ordered on a form generated within this software. The profiles are in-depth descriptions of over 225 jobs and are published by the U.S. Department of Labor, a leading publisher of occupational literature. Profiles range from 12 to 40 pages in length and include job prospects, education or training required, and related careers. Available at a reasonable charge, they are easy to order with The Perfect Career.
