Description from the packaging.

In the womb of darkness, a new genre of game is born.

Hideous monstrosities are all around us. But they come out only when the sun is spent. They are like roaches. Where there is one, there are hundreds. Beneath you, in your walls, in the shadows waiting for darkness to open their door. And like roaches, they are survivors. Nuclear holocaust, ice ages, drought, famine, the Spookhouse will not wipe them out.

When you have seen zombies feed on the flesh of a conscious living man, when you have looked into a vampire's dark shark eyes and seen fear in them, when you have been baptized in the devil's blood, then you can talk to me of righteousness.

You do not want to know what I know. Knowledge is fun. A black hole that devours that part of the self you cherish. You do not want to know what I know.

It is 1933, and in the shadowed world around you there exists an ungodly evil: werewolves, vampires, ghouls and flesh-eating zombies that wait just outside the light's unlocked door to feed upon innocence. There also exist guardians of the good and just, tireless vigilantes capable of tracking down this evil and turning it upon itself. You are one of them. And you hunt, as your vile quarry does, by night.

  • As the mysterious stranger, stalk evil across the globe and attempt to exterminate it with the aid of 13 uniquely talented Spookhouse agents.
  • Slip lethally through real shadows, accurate, multiple source lighting, and true, volumetric fog, hunting more than 40 savagely cunning monstrosities that want to obliterate you.
  • Explore the lair of the damned through intelligent, cinematic cameras or first-person night vision goggles.
  • Experience four self-contained tales of horrific adventure, each with its own story, locales, objectives, and characters.
  • Hear true, 3-D environmental sounds, from a gentle breeze rustling through tree leaves to a horde of the undead gnawing on your flesh.

"Nocturne's graphics are simply breathtaking, with the most realistic lighting, fog, and environmental effects we've seen in a game. We can't wait to get our hands on this one." - SPIN Magazine.

"It is unforgettable, astonishing, and teeming with riveting visual realism. Yet behind the rich lighting and gossamer fog is a timeless sense of adventure. This is gaming at its best." - Adrenaline Vault.

"...the ghouls overwhelmed the hero, clubbing him with their own severed limbs before feasting on his guts. And that was right about the time we knew we couldn't wait to play Nocturne. This game will be causing some hellacious nightmares..." - Computer Gaming World.

"The graphics will astound you, the gameplay will engross you, the sound will immerse you, everything about this game will grab hold of you and refuse to let go." - 3DRage.
