Description from the packaging.

Relive World War II's Naval Combat with the Japanese!

Guadalcanal is a realistic strategic and tactical simulation of this famous World War II naval battle- complete with submarine and airplane warfare.

You command the U.S. Fleet... are you ready?

Take command of U.S. Naval Task Forces in the South Pacific as you prepare to fight the Japanese in one of World War II's most crucial conflicts- the Battle of Guadalcanal.

Played on both the strategic and tactical levels, Guadalcanal is as challenging to your intellect as it is to your nerves of steel.

Feel the excitement build as you take control of the squadrons of planes and ships of the Enterprise, Lee and Callaghan forces.

Feel the tension as you search out the enemy... calculating your moves in the strategic mode.

Get ready for action as the Japanese fighters and bombers come into range and the tactical engagement actually begins.

  • Determine your speed and set the course of the Callaghan Task Force. You're now in search of the Japanese.
  • Size up your Task Force's strengths. DO you have enough guns and torpedo tubes to claim a victory?
  • You command three Task Forces: The Lee, Callaghan and Enterprise; plus bombers, fighters and an air patrol.

Are you ready?

This scaled simulation is unlike any other you have ever seen before. Every military detail has been faithfully reproduced... each ship's speed, maneuverability, armor number and type of guns- even the rate and range of firepowerr.

Your task is to protect the U.S. airfield on Guadalcanal and destroy the Japanese task force. But be forewarned: the Japanese- who renamed Guadalcanal 'Death Island'- are willing to fight down to the very last man.
