Description from the packaging.

If it were any more realistic, you'd need a pilot's license.

You took off from Boston's Logan airport under clear skies heading for La Guardia. Now, you're 5,000 feet above Long Island Sound and La Guardia reports high winds. The logical alternative is Connecticut-Bridgeport, but with clouds and a low ceiling you're going to have your hands full...

That's just one of the situations you might face when you're at the controls of Flight Simulator, a real-time flight simulation that puts you in the cockpit of a Cessna 182.

Flight Simulator has out-the-window views that closely match a pilot's perspective- all displayed in color on RGB, TV, and color-composite monitors.

You can take off and land at more than 80 airports, each with its own set of challenges. And alter the weather, time of day, and season to simulate the same flight conditions pilots face.

Flight Simulator was designed to be played by everyone. You can create up to 30 flight modes, ranging from easy flight mode for beginners to reality mode for experienced pilots. And now there's support for optional joysticks and the Microsoft Mouse. Both provide better control of your instruments than you get with the keyboard. And when you're fighting everything from high winds to enemy aircraft, you're going to need it.

Fly into battle.

Enemy aircraft? That's right. When you think you've earned your wings, test your skills with a round of World War I Ace- a battle game complete with enemy aircraft, bombing runs and dogfights. And a "war report" that tells you how you're doing.

Flight Simulator for the IBM PC and PCjr was developed for Microsoft by Bruce A. Artwick of Sublogic.

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator recreates the instrumentation, performance, and colorful out-the-window view of a Cessna 182.
  • Fly into battle and match wits with enemy fighters in World War I Ace, a three dimensional battle game.
