Happy Hurdler is an original arcade game. The object of the game is to jump as many hurdles as possible without falling. When you fall, you lose your man. You start with only five men. This game is written to use the high resolution graphics of the Radio Shack Color Computer. The program requires 16K Extended BASIC for the tape version and 32K for the disk version.

LOADING PROCEDURE - Cassette
Turn off the machine before loading this game to clear memory of your last program.
1) Rewind the tape to the beginning (front side of tape)
2) Type CLOAD and press the ENTER key
3) When the screen prompt returns, type RUN

LOADING PROCEDURE - Disk
(requires 32K)
Turn the machine off and then on again before loading this program to clear unwanted items out of memory.
1) Rewind the tape to the beginning (back side of tape)
2) Power up the disk system
3) Type CLOAD and press the ENTER key
4) When the screen prompt returns type SAVE "HURDLER" and press ENTER
The program will be saved to your diskette. Now you can run this program as you do any other BASIC program.

PLAYING THE GAME
Type RUN and the program starts with the introduction screen. As soon as this screen has cleared you will see your 5 runners at the bottom of the screen. The first runner will start immediately. He will run into the tunnel and appear at the top of the screen. As he is running, a hurdle will appear at random places on the screen. To jump the hurdle you just press the space bar. One of three things will happen: 1) You will have jumped too soon and fall on your face, 2) You will jump too late and trip on the hurdle, or 3) fly over the hurdle. The first wave of hurdles score 10 points per hurdle. The second screen scores 20 points and so on. Also the higher the screen number the higher the required jump point.

Good Luck!

In case of Trouble: Occasionally you may encounter an I/O error when loading the tape. This does not necessarily mean the tape is bad. Adjusting the volume may correct the problem. If it does not, try loading the second copy on the tape. If this still does not correct the problem, return the tape to Soft Sector Marketing or your local dealer for a replacement.
