Description from the packaging.

The enemy Droids are amassing on Earth's orbiting solar power station, "The Grid." To combat them, the humans have developed a lightning fast battle ship known as "The Gridrunner." As a pilot, you must avoid the Droids' weapons and annihilate them before they attack Earth!

Gridrunner is a fast paced arcade-quality action game designed to test your coolness under fire and challenge your reflexes. There are 31 different attack waves with an ever increasing number of enemy Droids released onto the grid in a bewildering series of distinct attack patterns. If you are able to entirely clear a wave, an extra Gridrunner is awarded (up to a maximum of 9), and then the next gridfull will appear.

Your Gridrunner is a special combat ship with a powerful plasma cannon. With skillful control it can destroy vast amounts of hostile Droids, but you must keep on the move, for the Droids have three fearsome weapons of their own: Gridsearch, Pods, and X/Y Zappers.

High Scores are possible in this game only if you can master the pattern of the X/Y Zappers and the intricacies of the Gridsearch Droids which, when destroyed, mutate into potentially lethal pods. The mind-challenging strategy needed to win gives Gridrunner an added dimension that sets it apart from other arcade-quality games.
