The screen savers in this package are examples of chaotic attractors- patterns which, although appearing extremely complex, are actually driven by simple forces in nature.
Have you ever noticed the perfect symmetry in the design of a snowflake or the constant rhythm in the beating of a human heart? A new science, called chaos, is uncovering hidden orders in nature where only randomness was observed.
The screen savers contained in this package are an example of these hidden orders. The complex, continually changing patterns which appear on your screen actually arise in an extremely simple, natural manner.
You begin with a scientific rule which, given any point in the plane, generates another point in the plane. Now pick a point and apply this rule over and over again. The points that are produced are attracted to a pattern, much like iron fillings are pulled into a pattern by a magnet.
The patterns produced in this program frequently look symmetrical and very well organized. So why chaos? Because, totally random, each pattern begins with two point which are extremely close together and the fractal patterns which are attracted to these two points are always very, very different, yet exhibit a strangely common, hidden order.
Besides preventing permanent damage to your screen from phosphor burn-in, Chaos! Screen saver will produce a stunning variety of fractal patterns and designs. But remember, in the constantly changing world of chaos you will never see the same fractal twice, so enjoy each while they last.
