CD-Blitz Accelerates Program Loading... and Expedites Data Searching.
CD-Blitz can be installed in just 30 seconds, and you can choose any cache size from 256KB to 64MB. It will not conflict with other disk caching software or memory managers.
CD-Blitz is an intelligent caching utility designed exclusively to speed up data transfer on CD-ROM. Caching is a memory management technique that reads and stores frequently used data in a live memory buffer for quick access.
CD-Blitz achieves drastic performance improvement by incorporating 3 (three) state-of-the-art caching techniques: Cache Sequentially, Cache Randomly and directory caching.
Every time you request data from your CD-ROM, CD-Blitz places some or all the data into a RAM cache. The next time you call for this data, a large amount of it may be found in that RAM cache. This saves CD-ROM reads by as much as 99%. In addition, CD-Blitz can effectively reduce the access time of your CD-ROM by as much as 85%. CD-Blitz comes with MAX & MIN caching modes. MAX mode caches all data, including directory reads from CD-ROM. MIN mode caches only directory information.
Free Benchmark Utilities.
Includes three utilities: CDst, CDWalk and CDRead. CDst allows you to examine the CD-ROM status; CDWalk performs CD-ROM directory walk tests and calculates the time elapsed; CDRead renders sequential and random reads of a specific file and calculates the data transfer rate and time elapsed.
Efficient Memory Management.
Using only 13KB of either high or low memory. CD-Blitz will enable you to eliminate the buffers required for MSCDEX, giving you a net gain in memory available for your applications.
Graphical Users Interface for DOS & Windows.
Allows you to modify the caching configuration on line.
