Description from the packaging.

Colonize a planet. Dominate a world.

A new standard in "Empire Building" games! Highly-detailed graphics, addictive simulation, plus unbeatable multi-player play! Play alone and over a variety of networks with up to 6 other players.

  • Explore new planets, exploit their resources to the fullest, and manage the growth of a space colony.
  • Win through economic and cultural domination, or stunning futuristic warfare.
  • Friendly tutorial and on-screen help for fastest entry in the game.
  • Overhead 3-D planet map "Zooms In" to show individual buildings, vehicles, and inhabitants in extraordinary detail.
  • Choose human or one of 6 alien races, each with unique strengths, weaknesses, and special abilities. See and hear alien commanders in high resolution, 3-D rendered, lip-synched animations.

5 Ways to play!

  • Against the computer.
  • 2 Player serial link.
  • 2 Player modem.
  • 7 Player LAN.
  • 7 Player Internet (Windows 95 and TEN).

One Planet. One Chance. Take it before they do.

Multiplayer action. Play against the computer, or up to six live opponents via modem, LAN, serial connection, or Internet play (through game services Mplayer or TEN via Windows 95 only).

The struggle begins. Each species lands their first colony, equally-equipped with basic supplies- and a powerful instinct to survive. Will your drive and abilities extend to total world domination?

Interactive enemy A.I. Your incredible 3-D rendered opponents possess unique attributes that will tilt the balance of power. Intimidation is key as they hurl insults and carry out strategies that can mean your doom.

Resource management like no other. Manage your initial population and scarce resources and build a self-sufficient, expanding colony. Choose wisely from farms, mines, factories, power plants, R&D and military expansion to achieve final victory.

Zoom in to view any of the settlements in your vast expanding colony in amazing detail. Adjust production, allocate labor, and plan new buildings. Defend yourself with towers and troops. Make spies to infiltrate opposing colonies, doing unseen damage. Build missile bases and airports for protection, trade or long-range strikes.

Explore and expand your world. Scouting areas to expand is just one of the ways to build an effective empire. Mines work best in rocky regions. Cracked earth is best for producing energy. Ancient ruins and artifacts hold strategically useful technologies.

While a peaceable victory is possible, war may be inevitable. Deadlock takes you there in incredibly realistic detail. Engage your opponents in a bitter struggle to destroy- or be destroyed. Find out why Computer Gaming World called Deadlock "A Solid Multiplayer Gamesfest."
